Axial just added a brand new SCX24 to their growing lineup and it's....a Jeep. A Jeep Gladiator to be exact. I say it that way to stir up the people who get so easily irritated about all the Jeep RC releases, but I'm actually ok with it. To be more precise, I actually really like it. Jeeps appeal to the large non-RC crowd who own Jeep vehicles. It makes sense that companies choose them to put on shelves for potential buyers to see. With the Gladiator, Axial went with a scale Tuff Stuff Overland package to scale out the rear box and I think it was a good decision. Not everyone is trying to comp crawler their mini trucks. There are a lot of people who just scale them out and don't worry about performance and this overland setup will appeal to them.

Speaking of scaling them out, this is the first SCX24 to come with a scale driver. They opted for the cowboy hat version of the driver because so many people who drive jeeps wear cowboy hats? Someone at Axial has something for this particular driver and it's definitely an interesting choice to me.

As someone who has been working on comp crawling SCX24 builds, I'm excited about the extended 153.7mm wheelbase (22mm longer) and the new aftermarket links that are to follow the release. Currently I'm having to buy the Deadbolt and Jeep/C10 link sets to combine them into a long wheelbase crawler.

The radio and ESC have also been changed in the new releases and appear to have smoother control than the previous models - according to the Scale Builder's Guild unboxing.

Overall it looks like a decent release and I don't think these will have a problem flying off the shelves at a fast rate like many of the other SCX24s before it. I plan to order one to test out the new electronics and see what the "out of the box" experience is like with it. Looking forward to seeing how all of you trick yours out.

Whatever course you follow, the SCX24™ chassis meets every challenge with full-time 4-wheel drive, a trail-taming 3-link front/4-link rear suspension and much more. Realistic steel frame rails stand up to hard knocks. Worm gears on the axles increase ground clearance. The new, 22mm longer wheelbase increases stability while steel front and rear axles, front stub axles and steel dogbones let you crawl and climb with confidence. Power is supplied by a Dynamite® 88T motor and 2S LiPo battery. A 2-channel radio system is included for precise, dependable control.

The authentic scale body includes a driver and detailed interior and is available in your choice of two colors based on the current Jeep® Gladiator factory colors. Scale Tuff Stuff Overland accessories are mounted on the bed rack. Officially licensed Nitto Grappler tires on KMC wheels add realism plus excellent grip on- and off-road.
